Auto-refill is available for prepaid API credit accounts. Invoiced accounts can carry a negative balance and do not use auto-refill.

Setting up

1

Open Developers

Go to the Developers page.
2

Choose thresholds

  • The value under When credits go below is the threshold below which your credits should be topped up. This must be at least 1 credit.
  • The value under Automatically purchase is the number of credits that will be purchased. The dashboard shows the current minimum and maximum values for your plan.
3

Add payment method

Add or manage a card from the auto-refill setup flow. Charges use your Stripe default payment method first. If no default is set, the most recently saved card is used.
4

Enable auto-refill

Save your settings and turn on auto-refill.

Auto-refill process

After an API Task deducts credits, Infinite Creator checks whether your balance is below your configured threshold. If it is, we attempt to charge the selected card for the configured credit amount. Be aware that sales tax may be applied depending on your location. Infinite Creator makes one off-session auto-refill charge attempt for card declines, insufficient funds, and authentication-required failures. If the charge does not succeed, auto-refill is paused and we send a notification email. Stripe may separately retry open invoices according to its billing settings.

Email notifications

Auto-refill failure emails go to the Stripe customer billing email first. If that email is not set, they go to the organization owner email.

Recovering from failure

Depending on the reason for the auto-refill payment failure, you may or may not need to provide a new payment method. For example, a declined charge due to insufficient funds may not require a new payment method, while a declined charge due to an expired card will. After updating payment details from the Developers page, turn auto-refill back on.

Manual top-up

At any time, you may buy credits manually from the Developers page. Manual top-ups use Stripe Checkout and do not depend on your auto-refill threshold. When a manual top-up fails, auto-refill is not disabled automatically and no auto-refill failure email is sent.
